And really, really easy!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" src=\"https:\/\/spoon.ernstrom.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/Breakfast\/StuffedFrenchToast.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"263\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Gourmet French Toast<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\"><em>Note: All quantities are approximate and can be fudged. Feel free to modify and experiment. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\"><em>10 slices of bread, cut in half<br \/>\n4 oz. (half package) of cream cheese, softened<br \/>\n1\/2 c. Apricot-pineapple Jam (marmalade or thick flavored syrup will also work)<br \/>\n5 eggs<br \/>\nSplash of milk<br \/>\nPowdered sugar<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\">Beat eggs and milk in a bowl, set aside<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\">Combine cream cheese and jam until few lumps remain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\">Spread the cream cheese mixture on one half-slice of bread and top with another half-slice (like a sandwich). Dip the completed sandwich in the egg mixture, coating both sides. Place on greased pan or griddle. Flip over, cooking both sides until the egg is cooked and slightly brown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\">Serve warm with sprinkled powdered sugar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px\">Yield: 10 half-sandwich portions.<\/p>\n<p>This is probably one of my favorite breakfast items. Its pretty sweet, but not overly rich. And when I think about the &#8220;bad for you&#8221; aspect, I can&#8217;t help but wondering if its not better than the classic butter and syrup alternative.<\/p>\n<p>I served mine with blackberries last time (for effect)&#8230; too bad I didn&#8217;t have any mint leaves lying around. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Let me know if you try these and what you think!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s another from my mom&#8217;s file.
